Resolution requirements may cause banks to cut the supply of credit to the economy, research published by the Centre for Economic Policy Research finds.
The discussion paper, published on August 10, examines the effects of an easing in resolution requirements for US banks with less than $250 billion. The requirements, also known as “living wills”, force banks to review their organisational structures, identify dependencies and prepare contingency plans to be used in the event of the bank failing
