Plus: Irish central bank makes senior appointments
Julio Velarde
Julio Velarde is to stay on for his fifth term as governor of the Central Bank of Peru following a personal request from the country’s president-elect, who made the announcement on social media on July 7. Keiko Fujimori was declared the winner of Peru’s presidential election on July 4, almost a month after polling took place. Velarde is one of the world’s longest-serving central bank governors, having originally been appointed to the position in 2006.
