During testimony before the US Congress on July 14, Fed chair Kevin Warsh stressed that Federal Reserve decisions would be guided by economic data and its legal mandate.

Appearing in his first biannual appearance before the House financial services committee, Warsh was repeatedly asked by Democratic representatives if the US central bank would remain independent or if its decisions would be influenced by pressure from the White House.
