The Central Bank of Syria has opened a new branch in the province of Idlib, and has re-opened its branch in the city of Raqqa after a 14-year hiatus.

In a press release announcing the opening of the Idlib branch, published July 2, the central bank said the aim was to strengthen the presence of the monetary authority and restore its role in regulating and supervising the banking sector, “in a way that contributes to supporting monetary and financial stability”.
