The central banks of Argentina and China have renewed a multi-billion-dollar currency swap agreement.

In a statement on August 5, the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) said that the renewal of the 130 billion yuan ($19.3 billion) swap with the People’s Bank of China had been extended from three to five years.

“This agreement strengthens the close co-operation between both institutions and the excellent relationship they have maintained in the 17 years since the first agreement was signed in 2009,”
